12th Feb saw an advertisement online;
PURE GIR COW FOR SALE!
Gir Cow Milk Per Day, 15 – 20 litres
I was so excited as I was eagerly searching for getting Gir cow easily. Now when I saw the PURE GIR COW FOR SALE I wanted to buy the gir cow immediately. I called up the number given in the advertisement to check on the gir cow availability & for the price. The call was received by a middle-aged man who introduced himself as an agent & said he has the contacts of pure Gir cow breed & it would cost 1 lac plus each. If I directly buy, it would be expensive; more than 1 lac plus each. But if I buy through him, he would get them at a high discount, i.e. 60,000 per cow. The only condition was that I need to buy minimum 6 Gir cows & pay 3.6 lac for the 6 cows + Rs. 50,000 for transportation.
I thought on the matter for 2-3 days & then agreed to the deal. I spoke to him for almost 1 hour & I felt I was the luckiest man to locate Gir cow so easily & purchase the same at the best price. My wife Arundhati, was not happy with my decision. She questioned whether I know the person & his credibility. I told her have cross-checked his details online & the person comes across genuine. There are others who are selling at very high price & he has agreed to get me at a negotiated price. He is just asking for a COMMISSION of 25,000. I convinced her & myself that everything was well.
I transferred 25,000 as advance money to his account & called him up. He said he would be visiting interiors of villages & get me pure Gir cow breed & let me know in 5 days.
I waited for 5 days, 6, days, 7 days… No call…
Finally, on the 8th day, I got a call from him saying he has finally located good Gir cows & sent me pictures on mail. I was overjoyed.
I started to dream of my Gir cow dairy farm. Now I was supposed to transfer Rs.3.6 lacs + 50,000 transportation cost to his account.
I was a bit doubtful whether to transfer the amount or not. After a weeks time of thinking, I finally transferred the amount. In the next 3 days, I got a call from him saying the gir cows have been sent through the transport.
It was 6th March, I saw the transport vehicle in front of my small farmhouse. And from the truck 6 Gir cows walked out. I was filled with joy & felt as if my dream had come true.
Arundhati was also happy, my son Keshav 8 years loved the shiny skin of gir cow.
My wife did a small puja & we had our 6 gir cows on our farm. I felt I have realized my dream.
Ramu our farm labour the milking man came running to me & said, Sirji Gir Cows are not giving 15-litre milk. I got the first shocker. I went with him & saw the truth. I questioned myself ‘HAVE I BEEN CHEATED?‘.
After 3 days of observations with the 6 cows; FINAL TRUTH WAS OUT :
- Two Cow gave around 8-10 litres/day
- 4 cows gave an average of 5 litres/day
I was angry & furious, I called up the agent & questioned him. The answer from the agent was;
“Sirji, I have given you the best gir cows. I checked them with my own eyes. Maybe because of the long journey the cow’s milk has come down. Wait for a week more everything will be fine”
I waited patiently for 1 week & saw no improvement. I called up with ANGER to the AGENT; he did not take the call.
I DO NOT KNOW WHETHER I WAS CHEATED OR….what is the truth? ….
After 6 months of care, 4 cows are giving on an average 6 -7 litres.
Promised was 15 litres per cow. But not even one cow gave 15 litres. Also, I do not know whether I really have a pure gir cow or it’s a mixed breed.

DO NOT BE EMOTIONAL, BE LOGICAL & GATHER MORE KNOWLEDGE BEFORE YOU PURCHASE. DO NOT BUY IN HURRY. DO THE SELECTION YOURSELF. IF YOU REALLY WISH TO MAKE A BEAUTIFUL GIR COW DAIRY FARM, BE RESPONSIBLE & GAIN WISDOM BEFORE YOU START

Best way to buy is travelling to the villages/ towns of Gujarat, around the Gir cow native region track. Meet individual people in villages, Gaushalas & private – government run breeding centres. While travelling through the highways, around the grazing tracts, in the villages you will come across many individual farmers, small breeders, large breeders & importantly the native NOMADS having Gir cows. This is the best way to start your journey in selecting BEST PURE GIR COWS.

Yes jignesh You are absolutely correct even My Uncle bought Gir cow from gujrat it depends on climates & they way they are treated while bringing from gujrat these Gir Cow usually milked 12 liters milk per day but after 6 month they decrease in day by day due
